This is my second time through this compilation of humorous short stories and it’s actually just as good as I remember it being.

The book contains 101 very short stories, each prefixed with a single word that defines the premise for the story. They actually read more like jokes than stories, but it is impressive how much detail and meaning can be condensed into such a short space.

The underlying theme for all the tales contained within the volume is that of love and obsession. Each thought, feeling or act is exaggerated to paint an almost hyperbolic caricature of relationships. Still, they’re not that far removed from reality and most of the stories do reflect an accurate picture, just taken a step or two further than real life.

There’s no doubt that most people will chuckle at a great many of the anecdotes and probably give a wry smile at the rest. Easy to digest and appealing to almost everyone, this is a book I’ll be giving to my more bibliophobic of friends to enjoy.
